Performers - Advanced Production: Using a desktop client
Advanced Topic: Using a DESKTOP CLIENT to broadcast on Stageit
When you create a show, you can choose to use a desktop production client of your choice, as long as it is capable of importing RTMP code and URL stream code for broadcasting. Two of our favorites are Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder (free) and Wirecast (around $500).
Why would you want to use a desktop client?
- You have slower upload speed (less than 1mbps) and want to better ensure a smooth, steady stream of your show.
- You have a great external video camera that you would like to use so you can zoom and pan and more.
- You would like to present a more produced, multiple camera show.
- You intend to use a Tricaster or other such device.
To use this feature there are only a few extra steps:
- Create a show
- Scroll down and click Additional Options
- Scroll down within the Additional Options to click Use desktop client for broadcasting
- Hit save and click Go to stage (available on the upcoming shows page)
- Download the XML or copy and paste the RTMP / Stream information
- Go To Stage!
A few things to note when using this feature:
- Clicking GO LIVE on Stageit will not start your your desktop client's stream.
- Please ensure than your show page on Stageit reads "ON AIR" after starting the stream on your desktop client.
- You will not have a live video preview on the Stageit show page. It will appear within your desktop client.
- You will have to click END SHOW on the Stageit show page after ending the stream on your desktop client.
- Be sure to download the appropriate XML file or enter the proper Stream Information when before starting your stream.
-
PLEASE NOTE: Unlike other platforms that provide a single 'channel' through which performers broadcast, since Stageit monetizes individual shows, Stageit creates a unique channel for each individual show. Due to this, each XML downloaded is 'one-time-use'. Please do not use the XML for your proper show as a test file. This will start and end your proper show. Please create a test/soundcheck show for the purpose of testing.
Additionally clicking START or BROADCAST on your desktop client will result in the starting of the show. Once the show starts, the show timer will begin. Please do not click START or BROADCAST until you are ready to broadcast.
